Review of The Interpreter (2005) by Fernando P — 05 Nov 2011
How do the miseries of Africa affect a pretty white woman? That is the question asked and answered by Sidney Pollack's final film. Some people find the insistence of Hollywood to tell every story, even those of Idi Amin and Nelson Mandela, through whites offensive or at least off-putting, but I just find it funny.
Anyway, this is a good old-fashioned political thriller with some great actors and a screenplay that is adequately serviceable for them to hang their performances on.
