Review of The International (2009) by Matthew L — 22 Jan 2010
Clive Owen has the rare ability to simply stand there and be charismatic. Even better when he has a conspiracy to unravel involving corrupt bankers. While the movie takes a very long time to let the audience in on what is going on, in terms of the background details, and keeps introducing new characters, it remains interesting.
The shootout that occurs at the 2/3 mark is one of the better ones in recent memory and cleverly designed to take advantage of the unique setting.
The International proves that Tom Tykwer really should just make a James Bond film next time around. Simpler material photographed as well would have made for a better film.
