Review of The International (2009) by Andrew W — 01 Apr 2010
A competent film about the little people trying to expose the evils of large corporations (in this case a privately owned international bank that is dabbling in arms deals). The settings are well conceived and focus on grand architecture, often as a statement. The shoot-out in the Guggenheim is particularly well staged and it is easy to think it was filmed in the real museum.
Where the film fails is in its complete failure to engage any sympathy or empathy for the lead (Clive Owen), without this soul of the film, it remains 'okay', but fails to achieve 'good'.
