Review of The Intern (2015) by Lucy B — 15 Jul 2016
A feel-good movie with endearing characters and a storyline that was convincing, engaging, and humorous enough to keep me hooked till the end. While it draws somewhat on stereotypes of both seniors and Millennials, the film presents the characters, especially Jules and Matt, as dimensional, if a little dramatized, people growing and learning in a fast-paced world.
To me, the film captures what life feels like for younger adults in the job world--a little glamorous and exciting, but mostly hard and emotional. Ben was a reliable and likable character. I especially enjoyed the heartfelt scene where she learns to lean on him as a mentor.
Overall, this movie doesn't leave a hugely strong impression, but it does leave one pleasant enough that I will happily recommend watching it.
