Review of The Intern (2010) by Daniel O — 26 Feb 2016
When I set out to watch The Intern I expected charm and some laughs but what I got instead was charm and soul. The thought of Robert De Niro playing a retired widower would have seemed ridiculous 25 year ago but he plays the role so well that you forget his gangster ridden past to enjoy his moving insight.
De Niro and Anne Hathaway play off each other like old friends and it was a refreshing take on a high strung boss who takes herself too seriously while her underlings clamor for the corners. It was a thoughtful and delightful film to be sure and it harkens back multiple times to Ms.
Hathaway's star turn in The Devil Wears Prada. A truly enjoyable film to be sure, so grab the popcorn and relax because this film is in the hands of two veterans.
