Review of The Intern (2010) by Terry H — 31 Oct 2015
Just back from "The Intern." Very enjoyable. Just a "nice" film; I don't mean that insultingly... it was just relentlessly... nice. Even when Anne Hathaway's character has a major crisis, it still wraps up in pretty much the nicest way possible.
That being said, Hathaway and De Niro have great, weird chemistry together, and that's the enjoyable part of the film. De Niro is seemingly effortless in this, but it's a good effortless as opposed to some of his "I'm phoning this in for the money" type of "effortless" you see from him some times these days.
In the end, it's a Nancy Meyers film... she has a certain style and it's probably not going to change. However, I really enjoyed watching both De Niro and Hathaway do their thing... good work by some of the supporting characters.
.. sometimes that's just enough. RATING: 4/5 RT, 8/10 IMDB.
