Review of The Insider (1999) by Justin G — 13 Dec 2008
The issue of the US corporate tobacco industrys darkest hour would be a fairly intresting 30min documentary but a 2.5hr movie? Well, Micheal Mann has not only managed to make an accurate movie based on these events but has also made an exceptional Thiller/Drama which keeps you on the edge of your seat for the duration.
Inpeccable visuals complement the master class acting of 2 heavy weights, who arguably have not been as mesmerizing since. Mann even manages to tame Pacino's wild OTT theatrics which he didn't manage in Heat which in turn produced one of Pacino's finest performances outside of the Godfather and Serpico.
