Review of The Informer (1935) by Tim C — 06 Jan 2010
An economically desperate Irish man informs on his friend to get money for his lover to go to America, and ends up feeling guilty for his betrayal. An excellent character study that really brought a reality of the time, not only about the Irish, but perfect for a Great Depression audience.
It won Victor McLaglen, who plays Gypo Nolan, the desperate informer, the Best Actor Oscar of 1935. Truly a great film to watch!
