Review of The Informant (2008) by Imad S — 16 May 2011
Solid effort on paper but the director, over rated as he is, can't work layers like Spike Jonze in Being John Malkovich or Paul Anderson in Magnolia, or even Wes Anderson in The Royal Tenenbaums...that being said - this is a true story - but Soderbergh is trying to layer the mixed up world of Damon's character, the actual misdoings of ADM, and the bizarro efforts of the FBI - played by the worst casting effort in history - Scott Blechula (spelling on purpose) and the most annoying actor/comedian of our time Joel McHale - hey look at me I'm Joel McHale - I am cool and you are not. Hold it, that's how Steven Soderbergh thinks of himself.
Three Oceans movies, a remake of a latino mini-series on the drug trade, and numerous other man-love films he made with George Clooney....
His best work - Sex Lies and Videotape unfortunately gave him some freedoms in Hollywood - someone better take a close look at his tour card exemption - this work is moronic.
