Review of The Infiltrator (2016) by Greg B — 16 Jul 2016
"The Infiltrator" is a largely compelling character study where Bryan Cranston plays a detective who goes undercover to expose the Panamanian cartels. He becomes close confidants with drug kingpin Pablo Escobar's top lieutenant and runs a dangerous game to try to get to the source of where the drugs are crossing the border.
He poses as a money launderer who wants to hide the dirty money of the cartels and they buy in to his story well. I thought this film was extremely suspenseful and compelling. The realism is staggering and it's amazing to see how Cranston is able to walk the fine line between their friend and a spy.
The script is smart and Diane Kruger provides fine support as Cranston's fictional fiancée. This is a smart film with solid acting ------------------------------------------------------- B.
