Review of The Infidel (2010) by Jim H — 04 May 2010
The central conceit (especially given the leading actor's persona) is immediately funny, and every good possible gag is milked from it. But at times it does feels like a mish-mash of ideas that aren't totally gelling.
The simplistic drama feels lightweight when compared to much stronger comedy elements. The 'be yourself' message is also exceptionally reductive and lacking any real nuance, so the film fails to really engage in any serious way with the implications of faith based lifestyles.
