Review of The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete (2013) by Art S — 10 Nov 2013
One of the best films I have seen in a long time. This is a straight up movie about living. It is much more than the way it's boxed as a "coming of age movie". It is a wonderful story about "how I spent my summer vacation" in a way that is dramatic and superbly acted by the two children in the lead roles.
The thing I really liked was that, although this movie is set in Brooklyn, in the projects, it avoids the hollywood hype about exploitative violence and gratuitous abuse. It was solid, great acting by children and adults and highly emotional.
In Minneapolis it is now showing only at Southdale. Please go see this to support the local artist who wrote it and show the distributors that they made a mistake. This movie should be seen by as many people as possible.
