Review of The Independent (2000) by William M — 14 Nov 2006
I feel for Jerry Stiller's Morty Fineman. Why can't he have his buffalo? The script calls for a whole herd! I think that's one of the funniest scenes in the movie, but the whole thing has me in stitches whenever I watch.
Roman numerals to denote movie sequels? Fineman invented those, like "World War III II." Stiller is amazing in this role, and he has a good supporting cast, though this is about as close to a one-man show as you can get these days.
I thought this movie was brilliant, and it really showed the spirit of the amateur, through the good times and the bad.
