Review of The Incredibles (2004) by Benjamin W — 29 Jun 2013
What else can you expect from the same director who did the Iron Giant? The Incredibles is a really strong and entertaining take on an otherwise comic book genre, which adds more than just a little bit of comedy, mind blowing action and physics bending animation that is perfect for an actual comic, but it also has heart, soul and takes itself seriously as a film with a good story to it, and that's always important, especially for something like this.
When I first saw the Incredibles when I was younger, I couldn't get over it because not only was it a cool take on the super hero genre, it was also a really good film that appeals even to adults today. The only problem I really have with the Incredibles is that Pixar hasn't done a sequel to it yet. They did a sequel for Cars, which was a questionable idea in the first place, and they have another questionable idea in the form of the movie Planes coming out in sight of the next year or so. This makes me concerned for Pixar and hope that they might return to the Incredibles to give a sequel a try, because the ending was a superb set up for one for the next generation.
