Review of The Incredibles (2004) by Michael K — 10 Mar 2014
The Incredibles is a visually stunning, engaging story that clicks on all levels: funny; smart; reverent. Has the feel of a classic Bond movie, but this time Bond is a married, retired super hero who is having trouble coming to terms with his uneventful life in retirement.
A retirement that consists of suburban life and a job as an insurance claims adjuster. As Mr. Incredible sneaks out at night to fight crime in secret to avoid his wife's wrath, his children run into trouble as truly exceptional kids who must stifle their talents to fit in.
When a disgruntled former fan comes back to take revenge, the family Incredible must come together to save their city. Arguably Pixar's greatest accomplishment, the film certainly lives up to its name and is long overdue for a sequel.
