Review of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) by Tabitha M — 11 Apr 2008
Incredible film. Carefully detailed, wonderfully textured film about a man's diminishing stature in the world, perhaps the most powerful expression of Matheson's great theme. Arnold's special effects in this digital day and age have a wonderful restraint; his camera is kept relatively static, the better to capture the hero's inexorable predicament.
With a finale as spiritual as anything in Bresson.
