Review of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) by Masorad ( — 06 Dec 2010
Set design that wows and a storyline (predicament, actually) that offers up numerous metaphorical implications. The rather affectless performances (granted the guy fends off a housecat & tarantula) only serve to enhance Jack Arnold's thematic thrust- the diminution of man as a measure in modern (1957) life.
In both senses of the word, the film scales the human condition.
