Review of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957) by Brad D — 26 May 2005
Team America - Several years ago, Wilson and I went to the Siggraph animation convention where wannabe animators like me attempt to impress potential employers. One of the reels I saw there was a full on porno with barbie dolls by a busty blond chick. Anyway, it took that long for it to appear on the big screen.
Super Troopers - If the highway patrol were made up of a bunch of frat boys, this is what you'll end up with. A very funny movie. Suprisingly good especially since I thought Club Dread (the filmmaker's follow-up film) was pretty crappy. There's no real plot - well, they threw in a plot in the last 5 minutes. That in itself is pretty funny. At the very last moment I guess they decided that they need a story to frame this thing. It wouldn't have mattered to me though because everything up to that point is pretty funny. It just signals an end to the film.
Moonlight Mile - a good drama about dealing with the lost of a love one.
The Incredible Shrinking Man - Old, but very well done. Most of the effects look like it's rotoscoped. Still, the filmmakers had a lot of fun with the premise. The ending is surprisingly unconventional too.
