Review of The Incredible Hulk (2008) by Timothy S — 05 Jun 2013
Manages to mesh a stylish man on the run story with the comic book feel of the other Marvel movies. Ed Norton is decent at playing a restrained everyman struggling to stay out of sight, while the effects for his Hulk create a more monstrous presence than the Eric Bana version.
William Hurt is menacing as the general tracking him down, but his character and relationships are limited to one-note villainy here, and Liv Tyler is the one actor who gives a weaker performance than her counterpart in Ang Lee's mediocre film.
There's a perfunctory showdown with a supervillain in the third act, and while Tim Roth is decent at playing a supersoldier addicted to his own power, his story arc seems a little tacked on to the rest of the movie.
