Review of The Incredible Hulk (2008) by Darth X — 24 May 2018
So I decided to rewatch all the MCU films in order. Which does in fact include this one! The Incredible Hulk. Shocking IK but it's true. And while I definitely preferred Iron-Man this movie is actually pretty good.
The tone is different from the rest of the MCU, it's more mature and grounded in the real world. You won't see any one liners being thrown around here. At least not one ever three minutes that is.
No instead what you'll find is a hero journey about self acceptance. Even the movie doesn't make that 100% clear all the time. The performances in this movie are great! Edward Norton is actually a really good Bruce Banner! Which honesty I didn't expect much out of him but he went above my moderate expectations.
And the rest of the cast does a fine job as well such as William Hurt as General Ross/ He does a fine job and you can tell he's enjoying his role in this film. Overall the Incredible Hulk is a unique reminder of a simpler time in the MCU when the series was still finding it's footing and things were edgier and more serious in terms of tone.
With some great action scenes as well and great performances I'll give this on 3 stars out of 5! Go rewatch it or watch it sometime, you might be surprised just what you might find.
