Review of The Impossible (2012) by Tom G — 03 Jun 2013
While the film may miss a few important story telling steps (especially ones that left out tens of thousands of Thai) and accidentally make you feel more disheartened and depressed than uplifted by the end, the film is nevertheless a visual and technical masterpiece that tells a story worth hearing.
Watts shines in her Oscar worthy performance, as well as McGregor and the bewilderingly talented children supporting them both. It's a breathtakingly beautiful piece that captures true human spirit and resilience in the face of disaster nearly perfectly.
A brilliant film.
