Review of The Impossible (2012) by Timothy S — 05 Jun 2013
A very harsh, visually striking depiction of disaster that captures the fear of losing family, both in the storm and in its aftermath. At times the film descends into melodrama and it begins to lose momentum in the back half.
Naomi Watts conveys the trauma of her situation and injuries with a convincing mix of determination and exhaustion, while Ewan McGregor is passable if a little forgettable as a worried husband and father.
