Review of The Impossible (2012) by Lee D — 15 Aug 2013
I rented the impossible on a whim from a local redbox just trying to find something I thought me and my wife would enjoy. I must say I did enjoy the film. a great story showing a family in a desperate situation trying to find one another.
the movie is def not for the faint of heart/children, there are some graphic and realistic depictions of the destruction and aftermath that a tsunami can create (more specifically in this case the aftermath left behind from the tsunami of 2004 in Asia).
all in all though the movie has some great performances, a solid story (based on a true story) and a unique/honest sensibility that almost all other disaster movies lack (instead of knowing from beginning to end that youll see the main characters come out on top, the majority of the time, you really arent sure what will happen and they show that everyone is affected by this kind of thing both physically and emotionally.
they show that in this kind of scenario real people arent necessarily going to have it all together) id say give it a watch if you like a good suspense/drama.
