Review of The Impossible (2012) by David E — 15 Mar 2014
Based on the 2004 tsunami disaster, "The Impossible" focuses on the true story of how a family got separated (& miraculously reunited) following one of the most disastrous natural events in the world.
Serious/tense acting (Naomi Watts was nominated for an Oscar for her role (didn't win) as a mother who clings to life so she can be with her family), astonishing scenery of the devastated land (during & after the tsunami), & powerful direction by Juan Antonio Bayana makes the film express how a tragic event could manage to bring people, even a family, together & show that helping one another would, & can, benefit many.
"The Impossible" is one incredible & sad film; it was bittersweet.
