McGregor, Watts, and Holland are able to breathe an uncommon amount of life and humanity into their mostly under-written characters, and power through with fearless performances. Emotionally demanding and rewarding, The Impossible is worth recognizing even if only for creating one of the most jaw-dropping natural disaster sequences ever filmed.
