Review of The Impossible (2012) by Dolores H — 25 Jan 2015
Frightening, little bloody, heart-stirring, inspiring, breathtaking ! The movie demonstrated the strong power of the disaster, also the director applied horror film techniques to show details of how the disaster ruined a land and human. I could feel that hurt, that misery.
Naomi Watts and Evan McGregor are very great actors but this time the spot of light was Lucas, played by Tom Holland. His performance was brilliant, drove my emotion up-and-down. From being arrogant and fearless at the beginning, and then he was afraid and found that he was actually weak under the extreme condition, eventually it turned out he went to gain the strength by helping others and getting his family back together. This is very inspiring. His performance was really great and apparently he was the lead in the film. Adding the scenes of others' suffering, just like putting me in the movie, creating real situation, drove me more emotional.
