Review of The Importance of Being Earnest (2002) by Cynthia R — 20 Dec 2007
I watched this movie with my sister with fear and trepidation--fearing, of course, that it would be a chick flick (it doesn't help that my sister says that I pick good chick flicks--what does that say about my plumbing?).
I was pleasantly surprised. It's pretty much everything I like about British comedy--wit, humour, and, my, the costumes. No, it's not a chick flick, even though Reese Witherspoon is in it. It is satire of the highest order.
And to think that when I found it in my sister's handbag, I refused to see it as a parcel whose only origin was a terminus.
