Review of The Importance of Being Earnest (2002) by Shade C — 23 Jan 2008
Very clever and very fun.
As adaptations from plays to screen go (never easy), this is very well done.
As usual Dench, Everett and Firth shine. Of course they have an excellent script (dialogue mostly true to the play) to work with. Witherspoon I didn't find as believable as the others (though this isn't really her thing...).
You will smile (and giggle often) all the way through this, but only if you are a "words" person (some people might miss things and others just can't get their heads around "period" films).
