Review of The Immigrant (2013) by Chris E — 07 Apr 2015
The film does a great job of not only displaying real emotions for all of the lead characters but also transporting you to that period in time. The set pieces were amazing, the acting from Phoenix, Renner and especially Cotillard were phenomenal.
One of the problems I have with the film is I wish they fleshed out the relationship between Phoenix and Renner's characters a bit more. Also, the film falls apart a bit for me in the third act, especially with the way a characters fate happens and is forgot about soon after, it all felt a bit rushed.
The film works very well overall and is definitely a fantastic drama. B+.
