Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by 5Thstfreddie — 15 Jan 2015
Absolutely one of the best, smartest, most engaging films of the year. Why is it that the Americans make **** like Inherent Vice and Wild, and the British still make films like this and Slumdog Millionaire and the King's Speech? Cumberbatch is nothing short of miraculous - but will likely lose the Oscar to Eddie Redmayne, under the "body transformation = Oscar" mandate.
Which is not to say that Redmayne is not fabulous. The cinematography, writing, set design are all terrific. Loved every minute of it: engaging and heartbreaking.
