Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Zimzams — 20 Dec 2014
A true story excellently portrayed by Benedict cumberbatch and co, the only lasting criticism I have of the imitation game is that the film shoe-horns in issues of homosexuality and drugs towards the end of the film to little emotional effect and is of little relevance to the plot other than to end the film on a sour note.
Additionally I believe the film could have been more focused on the enigma problem, as Turings backstory, while necessary to complete the documentation of his life, drags on slightly. The film is at its best regarding the solving of the Enigma problem, which thankfully a proportionally large amount of the film is devoted too.
In all a fine portrayal of one of my most favoured historical and scientific figures, despite these criticisms id recommend this film to anyone with even a passing mathematical or code-breaking interest.
