Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Dokalu — 08 Feb 2015
The Imitation Game is one of the best forgotten geniuses's biography movies that the cinema has ever created. First off, the obvious. Benedict Cumberbatch. His performance almost made me cry like a little girl. It made my eyes moist, and that’s something that just a good actor has never done in a long time. One of the best performances of the entire year. The rest of the casting were also good, Keira Knightley mainly, but Benedict Cumberbatch was just excellent. Now, the story. I don’t like that much the fact that they changed some things from the real one to make the plot interesting enough for the big screen. But besides that, the story is fun, entertaining, intriguing, emotional, original and is excellently told. And it’s not only the story, but the fact that it’s something that really happened and nobody new is something the movie shows in a very good way. It’s very well directed, the movie looks beautiful, and is capable of capturing the true essence of the real story of Alan Turing’s.
For flaws, I didn’t like when the movie showed some flashbacks, remembering Alan Turing’s youth. At the end, those flashbacks get to be important in the story, but before the ending those are boring and only make you wish to get back to the World War II things.
Real Score: 9.
