Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Lou A — 27 May 2015
A true story that is as important and timely as it is moving, and made even more compelling thanks to a phenomenal cast and sure-handed directing. Cumberbatch stays in his usual fantastic form, with a slight hint of eccentricities added.
Knightley also gives her greatest performance yet, among a supporting cast that is also very good. The film itself stays engaging throughout and ultimately hits hard on an emotional level. The story of Alan Turing, who saved millions of lives while simultaneously inventing the first functioning computer (and was wrongly imprisoned for irrelevant reasons), is presented with style and grace.
