Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Alicia K — 02 Jul 2015
I can't say enough good things about this movie. It's not just the acting, which is superb, but the story itself is remarkable and one that should have been told for decades. It is mind blowing that all this was happening under our noses yet no one new about this top secret mission until over 50 years after the fact.
Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect in the role of Alan Turing, a socially awkward but oddly likeable mathematical genius. What Alan Turing accomplished, in spite of insurmountable odds, was nothing short of miraculous.
It's estimated that his work shortened WWII by as much as 4 years. He saved millions of lives, yet no one knows him - until now. Kudos to everyone who brought this story mainstream. And this film brought the incredible story of Alan Turing to life in such a way that you want to watch it again and again.
In fact, I watched it twice so far and enjoyed it even more the second time! It's also worth noting that the music is just beautiful. This is a story every American should know. This is a story every human should know.
