Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Ken S — 05 May 2015
When I first saw the trailer for this, it looks like Oscar bait...a movie just designed purely to win Oscars. Having seen it, I'd say it is a little less hollow than that. It is a genuinely good movie about an obscure historical figure who did amazing things during World War II, only to have his life essentially ruined years after the war because of his sexual orientation (being gay was once illegal in the UK), leading to an early and untimely death.
Cumberbatch and Knightley give good performances, and it was a genuinely enjoyable picture. Recommended.
