Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Ben T — 26 May 2015
The imitation game is a film that fantastically highlights one of the biggest injustices of the 20th century. This film tells the story of the brilliant mathematician Alan Turing who cracked the German code and was the reason we won the war.
However he was forced to take medication to chemically castrate him after the war for being gay and ended up commuting suicide. The Imitation Game is brilliantly acted, directed, written and overall made.
Benedict Cumberbatch is fantastic in the film, he's a character that could have been really annoying but is handled perfectly. Benedict Cumberbatch feels like he was born to play this role, but then again he could play a brick and do it fantastically.
Keira Knightley gave one of the best peformances of her career. Mark Strong was excellent as a mysterious but somewhat likeable character. Charles Dance was excellent, his character was a dick but he was great, his character was a but similar to his one in game of thrones.
This film is brilliantly directed by Morten Tyldum and has an excellent screenplay by Graham Moore. This film also has some funny moments which were quite surprising. The drama was handled so well in this film, there was a really heartbreaking scene involving one of the workers Peter that really tugged at the heart strings.
The ending is utterly heartbreaking Benedict Cumberbatch pours his heat and soul into these ending scenes and it was so upsetting. This film was just excellent it was deserving of the nominations and win see it if you haven't it's fantastic.
