Review of The Imitation Game (2014) by Dave J — 16 May 2015
A good if horrifically inaccurate biopic. Turing was nothing like he's portrayed here. But it makes for good drama. Surprisingly the film focuses more on his imagined autism rather than his homosexuality, which is treated more as a mystery that's slowly uncovered.
The film's the better for it since playing the victim card for two hours would get truly tedious. The only real bump the film makes dramawise is the incorporation of a Soviet spy ring, which leads to some unnecessary melodrama in the film's second half.
Aside from that it's consistently enjoyable.
