Review of The Imitation Game (1980) by Lee P — 13 Jun 2015
It is always difficult to strike a balance between authenticity and dramatic effect when it comes to making a biopic. The Imitation Game definitely has its flaws, in particular highlighting Alan Turing's eccentricity and exaggerating the achievement of his team.
However, the adaptation did develop empathy among viewers and at least moved me. To me, I just wish Morten Tyldum had explored Turing's private life a little bit more. Benedict Cumberbatch's performance is flawless, and the score by Alexander Desplat would become a classic.
