Review of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) by Frances H — 13 Jan 2013
You can tell instantly that this is a Terry Gilliam style film. Costumes, make-up, actors, the whole visual eye of the film comes from Gilliam and his amazing gift to take something and make it his own.
The cast is good, Christopher Plummer makes an odd and yet fairly well acted Parnassus, Lily Cole and The Amazing Spider-man's Andrew Garfield make interesting additions. Of course the one you'll notice more out of the rest of the actors is Heath Ledger who did his last performance in this film watching this should give you chills every time you see Ledger on screen.
Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are impressive and entertaining as the man whose scenes they fill in. Visually this is a funny eye catcher, it is an odd plot to follow. But the enjoyment side of it is entertaining enough to keep you watching.
