Review of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009) by Cameron J — 29 Mar 2011
I don't really know what to say about this film. To start, I think Terry Gillium has some of the weirdest ideas I have ever seen. I mean, when the movie was over I wasn't sure whether I liked the film or was just overwhelmed by the strangeness of it.
That being said, it does take considerable talent to make a movie like this, but is that a good thing? The only thing that was generally consistent with this film, aside from the beautiful worlds that were created, was the acting.
I thought that Heath Ledger's last performance is a pretty decent one. Although it is nothing like his Joker, but still entertaining as a whole. I also thought the way in which Depp, Law, and Farrell were added to the film to help complete it was quite genius.
Overall it was a film that was beyond strange and I think that is what I enjoyed the most.
