Featuring whimsical music and stunning water color animation, Sylvain Chomet's dialogue-free vision of Jacques Tati's story is by far one of the most beautiful animated films you'll ever see.

Set in Paris 1959, this film personifies the cruelty of the progression of time telling the story of an elderly Illusionist at a career decline as the world is moving away from more traditional, previously-appreciated entertainment forms for more newer, sexier options at the time such as the mainstream emergence of Rock-n-Roll.

Watching this film is an experience that no description or review can do justice except to say go see it and when you do, rid yourself of any expectations and let yourself go emotionally in order to appreciate this work of pure art.

This review of The Illusionist (2010) was written by on 26 Mar 2018.
