Review of The Illusionist (2006) by James M — 10 Nov 2014
Released in a year of crowded competition (at least for magic movies), The Illusionist ultimately comes out on top. Choosing the purest path, in terms of the content, The Illusionist is a masterpiece of suspense, with Norton stealing the stage and ultimately besting The Prestige, despite having a lesser known supporting cast.
Although The Illusionist is perfectly traditional, it masters the genre perfectly and there is something to be said for that.
