The Illusionist and The Prestige both share the same premise. A magician who falls in love, goes through a rough era, and BAM! A surprise ending. It may seem difficult to decide which movie is better, because they're apparently similar. But the truth is, these movies are simply a lot less alike than many would think. When looking beyond the similarity of both plots, you might come to notice that they're created differently. For instance, both movies differ in mood, romance, performance, and simply the vibe of both movies is completely opposite.

I've noticed that the contradiction between these two movies is a common argument. I think it's a matter of which movie you watched first. The first is always more impacting to the brain. The movie you watch second will be just a copy, and it will not catch your attention. You will get bored. In my case, I watched The Illusionist first and it was so impacting for me that after, The Prestige was only some cheap imitation. But they're actually both good movies.

The Illusionist is really a masterpiece, a work of art. It doesn't even seem commercial. I believe this movie to be art in its purest form. Everything about it is simply enchanting. The sequence of events, the topic, the plot, the magic, and specially the romance. I believe the actors of this movie to be excellently chosen. Edward Norton did an amazing job as a mysterious, and lonely man, and Jessica Biel filled the role of a young damsel in distress perfectly. They both make an amazing, and highly emotional couple. Being romantic, but not cheesy nor pathetic. Paul Giamatti's performance as a highly intense police officer was also simply perfect for him. He filled this role perfectly. I simply admire the person who did the casting of this movie, the actors were chosen with so much sensibility, it made the movie simply realistic.

I would dare say that this movie is just so sensible, so romantic, so subtle, so enchanting... That it makes it possible for it to be considered art. It's also amazing how this movie can be delicate, and at the same time suspenseful, and intoxicating. It is the perfect blend of ingredients towards creating a perfect, and delightful masterpiece.
