Review of The Illusionist (2006) by Lee B — 23 Feb 2011
There are obviously going to be comparisons between The Prestige and this, due to the similar themes and the close gap in the release of each films. It's a stand alone story however, and it should stay that way.
Nevertheless, The Illusionist is a masterfully crafted period drama lead by electrifying perfomrances from Norton, Giamatti and Biel. The writing is also very strong and the cinematography is something to awe at.
I enjoyed this very much.
