Review of The Illusionist (2006) by Julian T — 07 Dec 2011
Not a bad movie, but suffers greatly from being released the same time as the similarly themed and far superior 'The Prestige'. The acting is the movies strongest point, as Norton and Giamatti are quite good.
Biel is hit and miss, but she sure looks good. The story is ok, but nothing too above average. Its just not a grade A tale. The script is good, and the direction is fine, but it can't bail out a convoluted story.
Still decent, but I implore you to see 'The Prestige' instead.
