Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Derek G — 13 May 2012
THE IDES OF MARCH - is an excellent political drama, but fails on the misrepresentation of being marketed as a political thriller. While it still holds some taste for suspense, the focus should be more on the craftsmanship of the film that is assembled by strong and precise writing, great directing by Clooney, and of course - an all-star cast.
Ryan Gosling carries the film and is on point at all times. Giamatti and Hoffman showcase their golden veteran chops, and Clooney has me convinced that he can run and win the bid for a Democratic President.
