Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Seth H — 16 May 2012
Overly dramatic tale of one idealistic political campaign press secretary turning cold, hard bastard, and then making the predictable noble move at the end. If the film wanted to be truly cynical, perhaps they should have omitted the cliche ending.
Clooney and Gosling are smooth onscreen, but this only serves to deaden the film more; Philip Seymour Hoffman on the other hand was sharp as a tack.
