Review of The Ides of March (2011) by Soren W — 16 Mar 2013
There is plenty to celebrate about this movie, despite the creeping suspicion that it may be too tidy. Atop that list are the performances which range from riveting at best (Clooney, Hoffman, Gosling) to effective at worst (Evan Rachel Wood).
It has relatively few new ideas regarding the political process, but that, in a way, is the point of the film. It is about the failure, or more accurately the inability, of the political process to be completely pure.
An ably crafted political potboiler.
