Review of The Iceman (2012) by Anjelica M — 09 Sep 2013
The Iceman is a film inspired by true events of the life of Richard Kuklinski. Who was a normal family man with a hidden life. Richard Kuklinski was a contract killer who was believed to killed over a 100 people.
You can say this film shows the rise and fall of âThe Icemanâ?. What I loved most about this film is it took its time. You see Richard Kuklinski in his earlier life before he was the âThe Icemanâ?. Then it slowly gets into how he became the infamous âIcemanâ?. The director Ariel Vromen really moved all the pieces of his life together very well. Itâ(TM)s hard to tell a whole manâ(TM)s story within 2 hours so I think he pulled it off. He never forced something to work or rushed any of the story lines. Michael Shannon once again gives such an amazing performance as Richard Kuklinski. He has a way of making this character very frightening yet lovable when you see the love he has for his family. Another outstanding actor in this film was Chris Evans. I think itâ(TM)s very rare we get to see him in a film like this. Chris Evans plays the role of another contract killer of âMr. Freezyâ? who later teams of with Richard Kuklinski. Evans really shows range in this film. He played this character in a funny way but still a frightening murder. The most frightening part of this film is just that these men were family men. They had families who loved them and had no idea what they did. Overall I really loved this film. I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Goodfellas mixed with Dead Man Walking.
