The movie/script is overly eager to impress at the beginning, but then settles in very nicely and hits every note perfectly. Show me and make me feel it, don't tell me how I should feel. Its a masterpiece.
Plus, you get to see Tobey Maguire, Katie Holmes, Elijah Wood and Christina Ricci as kids (compare this Ricci to her performance in Black Snake Moan).
